Costa Rica is one of the world’s most rewarding destinations for bird photography.
In a small country with rich rainforest, cloud forest, wetlands and mountain habitats, photographers can enjoy an incredible variety of colourful birds within a relatively short journey.

3 Hours Before Flight Time
This photography trip is planned for photographers who want to slow down, observe behaviour, work with light, and return with stronger bird images. The focus is not just to see birds, but to photograph them well.
We will explore selected bird photography locations including La Paz de San Ramón, Boca Tapada, Sueños Natura and the Central Pacific region.
These areas offer excellent opportunities for hummingbirds, toucans, tanagers, motmots, woodpeckers, raptors, and other tropical species.
The trip is timed in April to give better chances for the Resplendent Quetzal during the nesting season, while also enjoying Costa Rica’s rich birdlife and lush tropical settings.
Costa Rica is small, accessible and incredibly rich in birdlife.
For bird photographers, this means less time wasted on long transfers and more time spent in the field. Within one trip, you can photograph birds in cloud forest, rainforest, wetland and tropical garden settings.
The country is especially loved for its colourful species, reliable birding lodges, feeder setups, forest trails and strong nature tourism culture.
From the dream of seeing a Resplendent Quetzal to the joy of photographing hummingbirds in flight, Costa Rica gives photographers many chances to create images with colour, mood and behaviour.
It is one of the best first serious bird photography destinations in Latin America.
